App Developer Contest
by Andreas on Jun 23, 2014

A while back we here at TeamSpeak partnered up with Overwolf to provide you with a sophisticated overlay program.
In continuation of that partnership we are launching an exciting new app development competition!

We have a prize pool of $10,000 for developers to contend over in making the next best apps for Overwolf & TeamSpeak, using the new Overwolf Software Developer Kit. If you know how to develop apps or create Chrome extensions then you should participate.

Already developed a TeamSpeak addon? Great! Now you can easily add an overlay feature to it!

It has come to our attention that there are Spam Emails sent in the name of TeamSpeak and TeamSpeak Support. In these mails users are asked to reveal their server query passwords due to alleged changes to the license agreement.

These emails are fake and not sent by TeamSpeak.
If you have received such an email please delete it and do not disclose any of your server query passwords or other important information.

We never ask for any passwords or other credentials unsolicited. If you as a TeamSpeak License holder open a ticket via our support system and a support specialist requires sensitive information in order to support you then he will ask you to log into our support system and to add the information directly to the relevant case. You should never disclose passwords or other credentials by email.

In case you have already answered such an email please check our forum here.

Non-Profit License (NPL) and Annual Activation License (AAL) policy updates
by James on Jun 4, 2014

Dear TeamSpeak NPL and AAL Users,

First off, we would like to thank you all for your continued support and help making the TeamSpeak community what it is today.  Your dedication and enthusiasm is inspiring and for that we are grateful.

As you may know, the TeamSpeak 3 server downloads includes a native single virtual server/32-slot license which does not require registration of any kind for private usage.  This is currently utilized by thousands of small gaming guilds and clans which do not necessarily need a registered 512-slot NPL.  Registered 512-slot NPLs allowed for 10 virtual servers and this "benefit" alone has been among the biggest source of abuse and piracy we have encountered since the existence of the NPL (and AAL for that matter).
NPLs actually cost us money to manage, maintain, and support, yet as a company we insist on their existence. Many of you may not be aware that our dedicated customer support staff spends more time dealing with NPL issues which bring us $0 in revenue than all other customer queries combined.  We hope this brings additional perspective with regard to the magnitude of the issues we are facing with the NPL and the amount of time and resources these issues consume from our team.
NPL changes
Going forward, NPL licenses will be issued for 2 virtual servers/512 slots, rather than 10 virtual servers/512 slots.  Existing NPL licensees who obtained their license prior to this policy change will be granted one renewal at 10 virtual servers/512 slots, and the license will be valid for 6 months.  This should give you enough time to make any necessary changes to your server.  All NPL renewals after December 6, 2014 will be issued a 2 server/512 slot license.

Our goal is NOT to eliminate the NPL, for at its core, the NPL drives the very spirit and reason for which TeamSpeak was invented in the first place. Rather our goal is to minimize the abuse and piracy which unfortunately tends to fuel some NPL users.  This change will allow us to reallocate resources from managing piracy tickets and therefore accelerate NPL review and processing.
AAL changes
Annual Activation Licenses (AAL) for 128 slots and greater, previously allowing for 5 or 10 servers depending on the slot count, will now all be issued for 2 virtual servers.  Updated configurations for our standard AAL server and slot counts can be found here, and are offered through our automated sales system. However, should you require a larger number of servers or slots, send an email to [email protected].  Each request for a non-standard license will be reviewed on a case by case basis and is not guaranteed.
Note that existing AAL licensees who obtained their license prior to this policy change will be grandfathered into the old license structure and may continue to renew as they have before.
Thank you
Once again, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to the many users which have legitimately acquired NPLs for non-commercial purposes, and have spent countless hours contributing and being a part of TeamSpeak's growth and success.  For this we thank you, and we hope you will continue your efforts.  We recognize those of you in this category and expect these changes will for the most part not affect you.

Our sincere regards,

The TeamSpeak Team

End of the year
by Andreas on Dec 23, 2013

This year is drawing to a close. That is a good opportunity to recap the year and highlight some accomplishments.

* TeamSpeak developed a complete new Android Client from scratch as the former client did not meet our own expectations. That new client went through nine months of beta and finally got released on October 07th. As a thank you for our beta testers we started the App sales with a 50% discount. Due to the positive feedback we extended the discount period from November 11th to December 31st 2013.

* In many discussions and forum threads we heard about TeamSpeak users being unsure if anti-cheat programs might misinterpret the TeamSpeak ingame overlay and therefore trigger wrong alarm. We had only limited resources to work on our own overlay so we decided to partner up with Overwolf, who have multiple developers solely focused on ingame overlay design. As a result of our partnership TeamSpeak users can now easily invoke the Overwolf overlay out of the TeamSpeak client and getting the best voice experience from TeamSpeak combined with the best overlay experience from Overwolf.

* TeamSpeak attended gamescom 2013 in Cologne. It was a pleasure for us to be part of the best gamescom ever with 340.000+ visitors. Highlight for most of our fans and friends were the daily TeamSpeak shows on the Roccat stage. Offside the stage many users, fans and friends talked to us and shared their experience and fun with TeamSpeak. We enjoyed and value the feedback and therefore plan to return to gamescom 2014 with exciting news and features. Stay tuned...

So you can see, it was a great, busy, and thrilling year for all of us. And our plans are to come back next year with more exciting news and features. But for the remainder of the year we are taking a break and enjoy the holiday season with our friends and families. Therefore NPL registration, ATHP registration and also some maintenance on the Addon page are suspended and will remain offline until January 6th.

We from TeamSpeak wish all our users, customers, partners, friends and their families a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2014.
